The Department of Information Technology invites III semester IT students to an alumni guest lecture on Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering.

About the session
Large Language Models power tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. In this one-hour session, Karthikeya will explain how LLMs work and how to write effective prompts, drawing on his experience in industry.

– What a Large Language Model is and how it generates text
– Tokens, context windows and why models sometimes make mistakes
– Principles of good prompt engineering, with live examples
– Common prompting techniques: role, examples, step-by-step instructions
– How LLMs are used in software companies today
– Career advice for students interested in AI
