Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) welcomed back its Distinguished Alumnus, Mr. G. Pranav, who inaugurated Metallon Multiverse-2026, a National-Level Students’ Technical Conference organised by the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME) in association with the Indian Institute of Metals (Hyderabad Chapter) on October 17, 2026. The event was held under the aegis of Magistech-2026, the institute-level National Technical Symposium of the ISTE Students’ Chapter of MGIT.

Mr. Pranav, a JNTUH Gold Medalist for MGIT in 2023, is currently pursuing higher education at a renowned university abroad. Returning to the department where his journey began, he thanked the faculty and technical staff of the department and the institute for their guidance, mentorship and contribution to his personal and academic growth. He noted that the department continues to support him even after graduation.

Addressing current students, Mr. Pranav encouraged them to make the best use of the department’s facilities and the expertise of its faculty to become highly skilled and sought-after metallurgical professionals. He urged them to think beyond the classroom and develop communication skills, troubleshooting methods, leadership qualities and technical competence during their time at MGIT. He also highlighted the value of industrial projects at reputed organisations in making students technologically up to date and employment-ready, and assured students of his continued support and guidance whenever needed.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students of RGUKT Basar, JNTUH Hyderabad and other institutions, who competed in Meta Quiz, Technical Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Metallography Contest, Meta Sudoku, Meta Crossword, Phase Diagram Challenge and Industry Problem Solving. Prizes were presented to the winners at the conclusion of the event.

Prof. Phaniraj, Coordinator, Magistech-2026, and Prof. Dr. Eswara Prasad, Director, R&D, MGIT, were among the dignitaries present. Dr. K. Ramanjaneyulu, Head of the Department, MME, and Dr. M. Vijayalakshmi, Faculty Convenor, Metallon Multiverse-2026, conveyed their best wishes to the students.

Mr. Pranav’s return reflects the strong, lasting bond between MGIT and its alumni. The institute invites all alumni to stay connected and contribute to the growth of current students through mentorship, guest lectures, industry collaborations and internship opportunities.
