About Us

The MGIT Alumni Portal is the official meeting place for graduates of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, and the online home of the MGIT Alumni Association. It keeps alumni connected with each other, with their departments and with the campus.

MGIT Alumni Association

The MGIT Alumni Association was established in 2005 and registered in 2008. Since then it has steadily grown its activities through regular meetings on campus and beyond, bringing graduates of every engineering department back to guide the students who follow them.

In September 2022, the MGIT Alumni Association was recognised as one of the Star Influencing Associations for its significant contribution to active alumni engagement.

Vision

To emerge as one of the most influential alumni associations, by maintaining regular interaction with the Institute, mentoring students and contributing to the growth of the Institute.

Mission

  • To organise periodic alumni reunion meets.
  • To hold regular mentoring sessions for students.
  • To encourage alumni to take part in the overall development of students.
  • To build a strong link between the students and the alumni of the Institute.

How alumni stay involved

  • Reminiscence, the annual reunion. The Institute-level alumni reunion meet, Reminiscence, is held every December.
  • Monthly alumni talks. Each engineering department organises at least one alumni interaction talk a month, where graduates guide students on their careers.
  • Department alumni coordinators. Every engineering department has faculty members appointed as alumni coordinators, who meet monthly to review the alumni activities of their department and of the Institute as a whole.
  • Connecting students with alumni. Students are given access to alumni information and encouraged to stay in touch with graduates of their department.
  • Placements. Distinguished alumni who have built their own enterprises return to the campus to recruit MGIT undergraduates.
  • Supporting students. Alumni contribute to department student activities, and many support academically strong students who need financial help with their studies.
  • Guiding the Institute. At Institute-level meets, alumni share suggestions on preparing students for the challenges that follow graduation.

Our alumni

MGIT alumni are doing exceptionally well in their careers, drawing on the leadership, communication and organisational abilities they built as undergraduates. Some have brought laurels to the Institute through service to the nation. Others have become entrepreneurs who now offer employment to MGIT students through on-campus placements, and several have been honoured as best entrepreneurs by national and international agencies. Many serve in academia as faculty at technical institutions of national and international repute.

About MGIT

MGIT was established in 1997 by the Chaitanya Bharathi Educational Society at Gandipet, Hyderabad. The institute is autonomous and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH). The motto on the institute seal, Knowledge is Power, has stayed the same since the first batch.

What the portal is for

  • Find batchmates and department friends through a verified alumni directory.
  • Stay in touch through batch and department circles.
  • Hear about Reminiscence, department meets, webinars and guest lectures, and register online.
  • Share and find jobs, internships and referrals.
  • Mentor students, give talks and support the Institute.

How membership works

Registration is open to every MGIT graduate. You register with your roll number, department and graduation year, and your department’s alumni coordinator checks your details against Institute records before your account is activated. So everyone in the directory is a verified MGIT graduate.

You decide what others can see. Your contact details are never shown publicly, and each part of your profile has its own visibility setting.

Photographs from the founding of the Association and from past reunion meets are in the Gallery.
